Triangle Man

Materials:
1- Foam triangle of desired color
2-goggley eyes
half a sheet of colored construction paper
markers
glue
scissors

This is not a new idea just a good one. I'm sure everyone has seen/done one of these cute shape man before. Colton invited his cousin Oyla over to spend the night and join him in mommy school today. They both had a lot of fun making these cute little triangle men.

Steps:
1. Using the markers color the foam triangle.
2. Glue your goggley eyes onto the triangle.
3. Cut out 4 thin strips out of the construction paper. Two for the legs and Two for the arms (these should be shorter.)
4. Fold the strips like and  acordeon. (This step was to hard for the 2-years-old to do so I did it for them.)
5. Glue arms and legs onto the back of your triangle.

Put Your Circle in the Air

For this song you will need to use the shapes made from the previous post Shape Monster.

Put Your Circle in the Air

(sung to the tune: If You're Happy and You Know It)

Put your circle in the air, in the air
Put your circle in the air
Wave it high and leave it there
Put your circle in the air, in the air

Put your square in the air, in the air,
etc... continue with different shapes

This cute song is from Ruth's Child Care at Childsplace

Once There Was a Snowman

Colton has been working on shapes this month. The other day he learned that snowmen have circle bodies. To our surprise we woke up to 3-4 inches of snow this morning. We decided that there was no better way to learn about snowman then building one of our own. Daddy was off work this morning and he got to participate in the fun.

Colton enjoyed singing "Once There Was a Snowman" while building his very own snowman.

Kool-Aid Art

Materials:
paper
Kool-Aid (desired color)
spray bottle with water

Sprinkle Kool- Aid power onto the paper.

Use spray bottle to spray the Kool-Aid with water.
(As you can tell by his grin this was Colton's favorite part.)

Ta Da!

Koo-Aid art is messy, but the mess is worth all the fun we had.

Shape Monster

Materials:
6- shapes cut out and glued onto a background paper
1- shape monster

You can either sing or say the following (we sang it since Colton is really into singing right now):

Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a orange circle for your lunch?

Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a purple square for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a green star for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a heart heart for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a yellow triangle for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a pink rectangle for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
Hope you enjoyed your shape lunch!

This song was a adapted from A Child's Place.

Shape Games

Materials:
jar lids
paint
mod pod
color paper
scissors

Little man loves this fun shape memory matching game. I adapted this game from a another game posted on Oopsey Daisy called Owl Games

Shape Matching

I needed to update Colton's learning board and since he is learning shapes right now I decided to make him a fun shape matching game. It is a quick and easy game to make.

1 Cut out 12 squares for the background paper
2. Decided on shapes you would like to use and cut out 2 of each shape and glue onto the background squares.
3. Laminate them and put a magnet on the back.

We mix up all the shapes and let Colton go for it.

This cute heart man from Sweet and Lovely Crafts is a fun and quick craft.

 Tissue Heart

Tissue heart from Our Creative Day. Little man and I made this tissue heart and found that it was a little advanced for him. We adapted it by not crumpling the tissue paper. His didn't turn out as pretty as the other one but he still loved doing it.

 Valentine Box

Super duper cute valentine box from Last Minute Mel.

Groundhog Day

After finding a cute kids Groundhog Day craft Groundhog Craft from Oopsey Daisy I decided to have a Groundhog Day Party. We made the groundhog craft I found, read the book Groundhog Day by: Margaret McNamara, and watched Punxsutawney the groundhog predict if we will have a longer winter or an early spring. Good new is that he didn't see his shadow so spring is on it way. We all had fun at our party and then retreated to our burrows.
