Colt The Baker

Materials:
baker's hat template, printed and cut out
stapler
black marker
cookie recipe and ingredients

(Who said a Home Depot apron needs to be used for wood working?)

We had a fun day in school today. This week we are finishing up our shape unit so I decided to have a little celebration. We made the baker's hat I found at First-School Preschool Activities and Crafts, and some chocolate cookies (a favorite in our house.) Colton and I pointed out the shapes while making the hat and cookies. To my surprise there was actually quite a few shape in the ingredients of the cookies.

Starfish

Materials:

starfish template, cut out
(template)
blue paper
1 T. birdseed or oatmeal
glue
paint brush
scissors
sea stickers, optional

This idea is from First-School Preschool Activities and Crafts.

1. Paint the glue all over the starfish and then sprinkle birdseed or oatmeal on top of the glue.
2.  When the children have finished applying the birdseed or oatmeal, pick up each starfish and pour off the excess seeds back into a container.
3. Glue the starfish onto a blue paper and allow your child to color a ocean scene onto the paper (I had wished that I had thought to buy some sea stickers before doing this project.)
4. When the starfish is dry have the children feel it, it will feel bumpy just like a real starfish.

Shape Monster

Materials:
6- shapes cut out and glued onto a background paper
1- shape monster

You can either sing or say the following (we sang it since Colton is really into singing right now):

Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a orange circle for your lunch?

Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a purple square for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a green star for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a heart heart for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a yellow triangle for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
How about a pink rectangle for your lunch?
Shape Monster, Shape Monster
Munch, munch, munch
Hope you enjoyed your shape lunch!
